The highly anticipated Dennis Brown Anniversary Celebrations will be broadcast on February 1 2007 on Kool 97 FM. This annual event held on the birthday of the Crown Prince, was first staged on February 1, 2003. Since then this unprecedented programme has captured the attention and inspired the participation of International Media houses including the BBC and Choice FM London.
This year Kool 97 FM offers sixteen hours of Dennis Brown's most known and loved hits and draws on the vast repertoire of this Reggae Icon. Popular Choice FM London DJ Daddy Ernie will once again journey from London to Jamaica to participate in this special occasion.
In addition The Dennis Brown Trust along with several organizations, will host a health fair and out reach programme to assist at risk children at Central Branch All-Age. The Trust has been working with the Central Branch for several years. It is the school that the late Reggae Artist Dennis Brown attended and the Trust felt that it would be good to give back to the school. The health fair will offer services that the students would usually have difficulty accessing including:
1. Testing for sight and hearing
2. Nutritional counseling
3. Family Planning information
4. Counseling and psychological assessments
5. Dental hygiene
The Trust currently supplies notebooks to the Central Branch All-Age on a yearly basis, it also sponsors the school's feeding programme and provides support for the school's overall initiatives. The Dennis Emanuel Brown Bursary provides academic scholarships for the students. Kool 97 FM will broadcast live from the health fair during the Dennis Brown Anniversary Celebrations.
